I have a confession to make. I have a walk in robe, meant for two people… and it’s full of clothes for just me. It’s bursting at the seams. I justify it with outfits for every occasion; corporate me, party me, summer me, athletic me, weekend me. Then there are the “I’ll get back into that one day” clothes. Occasionally I’ll do a cull. “you’re dreaming – give it to charity” but there are still some items that I can’t quite bring myself to give away. Yes Marie, those tan high heels do give me joy. I have never worn them, and I probably never will, but I really REALLY like them, and they didn’t have them in black.. and one day, just one day… I might.
One of the reasons you might find yourself in the same situation is the fear of monotony setting in. We all have that slight desire to be the equivalent of Kim or Beyonce, and we can’t possibly be photographed in the same outfit twice, right?
What if I told you that you probably already have the answer to your style desire in your wardrobe already? One thing that I do “live” in is the tee. Classic, easy to wear, comfy and practical. It’s not about what you wear, but how you wear it. Pairing that simple classic Tee into a multitude of styles to suit practically any situation.
The go to style for most is the tee with pants. Dress it down with jeans and sneakers, or for a more chic style wear with light cotton pants with sandals or even a classy pair of heels. You can use a variety of tucks or ties to style it up. Tuck in one corner for a shaped look, Fully tucked into the pants/jeans for an accentuated waist or a front knot for a cropped look.
Ask any stylist and they will tell you the key to any outfit is the accessories. You can change the feel of any outfit just by accessorising. Add a floppy hat and a bucket bag for that beach ready look, or a bucket hat and a crossbody bag or… a BUMBag! They are back you know and I am VERY excited! I refuse to call them a fanny pack though. That just feels wrong.
Another way to style your tee is with layers. Throw a crop under your singlet or tank for a funky contrast, throw a jumper over your shoulders or wear a sleeveless vest over the top.
Need a going out outfit but CBF – or maybe you just got invited to a last minute thing. You can still glam up a tee by tucking or tying it to accentuate your curves, and wearing tucked into a pencil skirt or with some slinky wide leg pants. Throw a suit jacket over the top for something even more formal.
Send through your pics of how your styled your CBF tee. WE love to see our Tribe!
